Spicy Sesame Tofu Side Dish

This is a delicious tofu side dish that can be used to put that home made tofu to good use! It has a sweet gingery and sesame taste to it and is quite filling. My mother, who is my chief taste tester and quite hard to please, says that this is the best tofu dishes she has ever tried.

I adapted this dish to make it healthier and tastier from a korean side dish recipe, by adding ginger, stevia drops and green chilli it makes a really great addition to the dish!

So Good!!!!! You should definitely try this dish once you have made your own tofu!

Ingredients

(Serves 2-3)
  • 1 blocks of firm tofu (300g) (tofu that you made by hand)
  • 2 green chilies
  • 75ml of tamari / soy sauce
  • 2 tbs of sesame oil
  • 1/2 of a white onion
  • 1 tsp of raw ginger
  • 2 clove of garlic
  • 5 drops of liquid stevia/ 1 1/2 tsp of honey/ 1 1/2 tsp maple syrup / 1 packet powdered truvia or stevia
  • Optional: Salt (although I don't think this is needed)

Method

  1. Slice the tofu up into small blocks
  2. Put a teaspoon of the sesame oil, 1 tbs of tamari and 2 tbs of water in a saucepan with the tofu. Fry the tofu for around 5 mins or until it has a golden colour
  3. Slice up the white onion, ginger, garlic and green chillies and add to the saucepan
  4. Add the rest of the sesame oil and tamari to the saucepan and let cook for around 2 mins
  5. Serve and enjoy
